Yamiser Selatta

Yamiser Selatta is an Ethiopian food recipe of lentil salad.
Ingredients
- 1½ cup dried lentils
- 5 cup water
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 tbsp vinegar
- 6 tbsp peanut oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- ½ tsp red pepper flakes
- salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tomatoes, chopped
Instructions
- Rinse the lentils.
- In a pan, cover lentils with water and place on medium heat. Bring to a boil and then lower the heat. Simmer the lentils for 45 minutes or until tender, but not mushy.
- Carefully drain the lentils.
- In a bowl, combine the onion, vinegar, oil, garlic, and red pepper flakes. Add the lentils, salt, and pepper. Stir and set aside at room temperature for 1 hour. Stir often to blend flavors. Mix with tomatoes.
