Yamiser Selatta is an Ethiopian food recipe of lentil salad.
  • 1½ cup dried lentils
  • 5 cup water
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 tbsp vinegar
  • 6 tbsp peanut oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ tsp red pepper flakes
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tomatoes, chopped
  1. Rinse the lentils.
  2. In a pan, cover lentils with water and place on medium heat. Bring to a boil and then lower the heat. Simmer the lentils for 45 minutes or until tender, but not mushy.
  3. Carefully drain the lentils.
  4. In a bowl, combine the onion, vinegar, oil, garlic, and red pepper flakes. Add the lentils, salt, and pepper. Stir and set aside at room temperature for 1 hour. Stir often to blend flavors. Mix with tomatoes.
